Place of delivery

At home or outpatient?

In the Netherlands, as a low-risk pregnant woman, you have the opportunity to choose where you want to give birth, at home or in the hospital.
Giving birth at home is absolutely safe, we have everything you need to respond to an unexpected situation.
It is possible that you have a medical indication, which means that you have to give birth in hospital.

If you do not have a medical indication, you can also give birth in hospital, under the supervision of your own midwife. We call this an outpatient birth or a rescheduled home birth. You then rent a delivery room, as it were, and if the delivery goes without complications, you can go home a few hours after the birth.

During your pregnancy you should discuss with your partner what is the best place for you to give birth. Whatever choice you make, it is the most important thing for us that you feel comfortable and safe at the place where you are going to give birth. You can still make or change the decision where you are going to give birth during the delivery.

If you would like to give birth in an outpatient setting, you can choose the Maxima Medical Center in Veldhoven or the St. Anna Hospital in Geldrop in this region. Click on the links below to go to the website:
