We advise you to write down the name or names of your child so that you can check together whether you have the correct names and order and whether they are written correctly.

Parental authority
Parental authority is the parent's right and duty to raise and care for a child. You are also the legal representative of your child if you have parental authority.

When you are married, you automatically have joint parental authority as both mother and father.
If you are not married, only the mother gets parental authority. Even if you as a father have acknowledged your child.
After the birth of your child, you must submit a request to the subdistrict court to arrange joint parental authority. You will receive the forms you need for this when you start arranging the accreditation with the municipality. You can therefore only obtain parental authority if you have also acknowledged the child. Parental authority can only be arranged after the birth of the child.
